Stop at the other-worldly Domelands wind caves for a lunch break before retracing our path. The longer hike will go through the Domelands slot and is a more difficult hike. It should only be undertaken by hikers that are in good physical condition. Two hike options will be offered. Black sage is the dominant plant on this trail, although many other native plants abound. There are spots along the trail with great views of the surrounding areas, including Lake Hodges, Carmel Mountain, Palomar Mountain, Mount Woodson, and the remains of an old arsenic mine.
