- OASIS San Diego Psychology of Aging Class No.2395 (In-Person Rancho Bernardo) The way people age and confront the aging process is influenced by many factors. In the individual life history, past experiences and cultural contexts are intertwined. Actors in the person’s history and social context such as parents, siblings, teachers, neighbors, friends, spouses, co-workers contribute to well-being and personal development or interfere with them. The historical circumstances of a particular cohort, including cultural changes and technological innovations, individual and collective health issues and available treatments present opportunities or create barriers throughout the life span. Material circumstances interact with psychological forces in each individual life. In this presentation we will focus on how these dynamics influence the individual process of aging and the aging process in societies. san-diego.oasisnet.org + Classes + Search 2395

- OASIS EVERYWHERE The Afterlife: Biblical Views and Beyond The Hebrew Bible does not “believe” in any form of afterlife. Death is final and nothing happens after death. However, in post biblical times, all three monotheistic religions developed ideas about a continuation in one form or another after death. Thus, afterlife can be called also “life after death.” Hints for these ideas do appear in the Bible. In our session we will review some common ideas about the afterlife, we will discuss some questions that these beliefs present, and see whether there are sufficient answers to these questions. We will in particular discuss: Final judgment and where do the righteous go and where do the evils go, reincarnation, purgatory, resurrection. store.oasiseverywhere.org/ + View Classes + afterlife
